About us
Aware Flow HK is a small flow arts brand from Hong Kong, born from a mom of two finding herself again through psytrance and dapo. Our wish is simple: to give you a tool that helps you feel freedom and movement in your own body again, whether or not you have any dance experience.
We design star‑shaped cloth dapos that are meant to be beginner‑friendly, yet still carry a strong psychedelic vibe. It’s not only a flow toy – it can also be a beautiful deco piece, hanging on your wall, in your tent or on your bag, so your space keeps a little bit of festival energy even when there’s no music playing.
In the future, we’ll be collaborating with different artists to create more patterns and styles, so that each dapo feels like a small moving artwork, inviting you to step into your own flow.
My Story —
From Mom to Flow
A few years after becoming a mom of two, my life was all about taking care of others, and I slowly felt myself disappearing from my own story. I had little interest in anything, until one night I heard psytrance for the first time – when the BPM dropped, my body started moving on its own, and it felt like I was finally being woken up again. In January 2025, at Ligor Spirit Festival in Thailand, I met the dapo – a spinning, star‑shaped cloth toy. My first experience with it was honestly terrible: it was too heavy, my arms were tired and sore, and I almost believed this toy just wasn’t meant for me. Back in Hong Kong, I saw my friends flowing so smoothly and told myself, “If they can do it, maybe I can too.” At that time I still wasn’t truly practicing at home – I just couldn’t resist the urge to move, so I grabbed two boxer shorts as makeshift props and kept drawing figure‑eights in the air to feel the rotation in my wrists.

In May 2025, I finally bought my first dapo – 67 cm, 370 g, single‑sided and without UV print. I treated it as a promise to myself: I would no longer just stand on the side and watch, but truly show up for myself.
Spinning my very first dapo in Choi Hung Estate, Hong Kong.Later, a Japanese friend asked if I would be interested in selling dapos at a festival. In that moment, I felt very unsure, because I had only been playing dapo for about four months and didn’t feel “qualified” to sell it at all. But at the same time, I knew I didn’t want to simply resell someone else’s design – I wanted a dapo that felt “just right” in my own body.
With no drawing or design background, I sketched around ten different ideas and contacted a manufacturer to make samples. I tested each one at home and on the dancefloor, checking the weight, size and fabric, slowly finding the version that best matched my vision: a design that looked psychedelic and felt kind to the wrists.
At the festival in Japan, while I danced with music using the dapo I had designed, many people stopped to watch the star spinning around me and curiously asked, “What is that?” In that moment, I realised I wasn’t just playing with a toy – I was opening a doorway that could lead people into their own flow.
In my eyes, playing dapo isn’t about putting on a big show. It’s about moving with one or two simple motions that feel good to you, turning up the music you love, and slowly dropping into a flow state that belongs only to you.
Spinning my own dapo design at a festival in Ishigaki island.Aware Flow HK is my way of holding that door open, inviting you to find your own rhythm and your own flow in everyday life, at your own pace.
I’m deeply grateful to the friends who have supported me behind the scenes and everyone at festivals who stopped, watched, gave me a like or a smile – you are the reason I believe this path is worth walking.
